Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for the Shaunavon area.

A prolonged period of extreme heat is forecast for part of southern Saskatchewan including Dollard, Ponteix, Aneroid, Shaunavon, Simmie, Scotsguard, Frontier, Claydon, Climax, Bracken, Mankota, Ferland, Cypress Hills Provincial Park, Maple Creek, Kincaid, Hazenmore, Consul, Robsart, Willow Creek, Val Marie, Orkney, Monchy, Eastend, Ravenscag, Cadillac and Admiral.

Daytime highs are expected in the low to mid thirties, combined with overnight lows near 15 degrees Celsius and are expected to persist throughout the weekend.

A system forecast to move through the region on Tuesday will moderate temperatures and bring an end to the Heat Warning.

The Heat Warnings are expected  to spread eastward through the coming days.
