Swift Currents exclusive provider of all things vinyl has been chosen to offer some exclusive music.

Prairie Flint, the only record store in Swift Current, has been able to claim a spot on International Record Store Day, with official promotional merch and music.

While stores from all over Canada and the world get involved, not all of them get to offer the limited edition music and albums that come out in support of these local stores. Luckily for Prairie Flint owner, Kayla Weston, her application was approved to be able to offer the International Record Store Day releases from both Paramour and The Tragically Hip.

"A number of exclusive records are pressed each year for Record Store Day," said Weston. "They are only available at the participating shops."

Throughout the day, not only will these limited edition, and limited quantity, records be for sale, but Weston also plans to raffle off a box set edition of The Beatles 'Abbey Road'.

"We will also have a bunch of giveaways and discounts," mentioned Weston.

Fans of Paramore and The Tragically Hip will want to be at the store first thing on Saturday morning because when the doors open at 9 a.m., it will be first come, first served.

"The Tragically Hip is the huge Canadian ambassador [for International Record Store Day]," said Weston. "They're putting out" Live at the CBGB, which was one of their early pressings. It's pretty cool, and it's the first time on vinyl."

While Prairie Flint is a smaller store, only occupying two smaller spaces in the same building as the Salvation Army Thrift Store, the 161 Central Avenue North location packs a punch when it comes to the atmosphere, and the selection of different genres that can be found.
