A former Swift Current Bronco has been named the captain of one of Canada's NHL teams.

The Winnipeg Jets made the announcement this morning that the nine-year NHL veteran would wear the C for the team becoming their third player in franchise history to do so.

The St. Louis, Missouri product had spent all 621 regular season games in his NHL career with Winnipeg that started 2014-15.

He's currently entering the third year of his five-year deal with $16.25 million he signed on April 16, 2021.

Lowry spent his entire four-year WHL career with the Broncos skating in 235 regular season games amassing 204 points, 90 of which were goals.

He won the WHL's Scholastic Player of the Year in 2009-10 and the WHL Player of the Year (Four Broncos Trophy) in 2012-13.
