Despite being outshot 28-16, the K-Motel Midget ‘AA’ Broncos found themselves on the right end of the only stat that counts in a 4-2 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds.

On the road in Wilcox, the Broncos jumped out to an early lead even though they only managed three shots in the opening period.

For Swift Current, two of those three shots found the back of the Notre Dame net as Damon Legault and Jonas Sadden both scored to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead after one.

The Hounds battled their way back in the middle frame scoring two goals just 59 seconds apart to tie the game 2-2.

However, after Notre Dame took their third penalty of the game, the Broncos took full advantage when Brock Herter put home his 8th goal of the season while restoring Swift Current’s lead.

The Broncos then carried their 3-2 lead into the final frame.

In the third, both team’s goalies managed to keep the score the same until Notre Dame pulled their net minder in favour of the extra-attacker in the final minute.

Rhett Stevenson managed to find the empty cage for Swift Current, icing the game while giving the Broncos a 4-2 advantage.

With the win, the Broncos jumped over the Notre Dame Hounds by one point, while also pulling into a tie for 6th place with the Notre Dame Argos.

Swift Current will resume their season on February, 11th when they play host to the Regina Capitals.
