The Swift Current Legionnaires stretched their winning streak to five straight over the weekend beating the Yorkton Maulers twice.

Swift Current jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Saturday and didn't look back en route to a 5-2 victory.

Legionnaires forward Jace Egland scored a pair, while Rylan Williams, Cam Perlinger, and Eric Hoiness all found the back of the net.

Egland, Perlinger, Williams, and Parker Rondeau all had multi-point outings in the victory.

Goalie Jacob Morris turned aside 30 of the 32 shots sent his way for his first win in the Legionnaires net.

Sunday was a bit of a different story as the Maulers erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to force overtime. However, Legionnaires captain Hudson Darby scored the game-winner edging Swift Current by Yorkton 6-5.

Darby led the offensive attack pouring in two goals and two assists.

Forward Cam Perlinger also scored twice, while Rylan Williams and Jett Lamb each had single markers for Swift Current.

Gull Lake's Berney Weston made 25 saves for his fourth win of the year.

The Legionnaires are now 5-2-1 with all eight games being played away from home.

Swift Current will host their home opener Friday night when the Notre Dame Hounds visit.
