The number of municipal fire bans in the southwest corner of the province decreased by two late this week, as the effects of a hearty dose of rain continue to aid the region.

There are just five fire bans that remain after the Village of Beechy and the Rural Municipality of King George #256 both lifted theirs, as noted on the Government of Saskatchewan's list of reported fire bans.

The fire bans still in effect as of May 29 include four Urban Municipalities and one RM:

  • Town of Rockglen
  • Town of Eatonia
  • Village of Riverhurst
  • Village of Mortlach
  • RM of Wheatlands #163

Updates will be provided as southwest municipalities are added or taken off the province's fire ban list.
