The taste of a community full of flavour was put on full display in southwest Saskatchewan.

A Taste of Maple Creek was offered to anyone wishing to sample a little bit of what the town had to offer.

The streets of the community were dotted with eateries offering samples of their foods as a part of the event.

Town of Maple Creek Acting community and economic development manager, said that although rain lessened their attendance, this iteration was a success.

This was the first Taste of Maple Creek where ticket sales didn't increase from last year, which she attributed to the weather.

Moch said that a couple of businesses might not be able to participate in the event going forward, but the event itself remains stable.

She said that it is excellent for the local eateries to spread their name through A Taste of Maple Creek.

"Some of the food vendors, they talk about how the Taste of Maple Creek has put them on the map. People driving by will actually make a detour into Maple Creek [for their business.]"

This was the ninth time that the event was hosted in the town located near Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.

"Next year is our 10th Taste of Maple Creek, and we'll probably a wee bit bigger than we were this year, we're going to extend the event with a street market."

The event also coincided with the Fly-In Breakfast hosted at the Maple Creek Airport, as well as a car show the same day.
