Local high school curlers and wrestlers booked their tickets to provincials after regional championships in both sports took place over the weekend. 

The Maple Creek mixed and Fox Valley girls’ curling teams went unbeaten in regionals and the Comp High School boys team qualified out of the B-Event. Those three teams will compete at provincials this weekend with the boys' event in Rosthern, the girls' at Langham and the mixed championship at Hanley.

At the junior district curling championships at the Swift Current Curling Club, Leader won the A-Event in the girls' competition with Maple Creek winning the B-Event and Gull Lake finishing third. Maple Creek won the boys' and mixed titles with Ecole Centennial winning the boys' B-Event and Fox Valley finishing third, and Val Marie and Eastend finished second and third, respectively, in the mixed event.

Meanwhile, the Comp will send 12 wrestlers to provincials after a regional tournament in Meadow Lake. First place winners were Colton Koethler, Keyanna Ginter-Bennet and Brooklyn Hir, Waylan Ratzlaff finished second in his division, finishing third were Titus Erick, Dakota Hurl, Kaylin Read, Nicole Pelletier and Ella Toles, and fourth place qualifiers were Rece Schindel, Emmit Wiebe and Chaz Vanderdort.

Wrestling provincials are in Regina March 17 and 18.
