Many people claim to be fortunate to live in the southwest, but one Cadillac resident has just hit the jackpot.

Carey Power hit it big with an EXTRA lottery ticket, bringing himself a fortune to the tune of $100,000.

Power had acquired his ticket, costing $12, a few days prior to the draw from Pioneer Co-op, situated on Springs Drive in Swift Current. A couple of days following the draw, he came back to the store and used a self-checker to verify his ticket.

"I couldn't believe my eyes," he recalled. "I was genuinely shocked."

A spontaneous act of kindness added to his astonishment.

“A complete stranger came up to me in the store and gave me a big hug,” he said. “No idea who that woman was, but we were hugging! I was stunned.”

Power’s amazement grew further when he went to the clerk to present the ticket, and his cash prize was 10 times the amount he originally believed.

“I thought I won $10,000 at first,” he explained. “But $100,000, well, that’s a big prize!”

When asked what he would do with his winnings, Power had a few things in mind.

“I’m going to be smart and invest some and then pay off all my bills,” he said. “I’m also pricing out a trip to Budapest...I really already have everything that I’ve ever wanted, but I could always use another remote-controlled airplane!”
