Following the tragic news of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, Swift Current Mayor Denis Perrault released the following statement.

"Our hearts ache for the Humboldt Broncos hockey club, for the families of the players and staff, and for the entire City of Humboldt," he said. "The thoughts and prayers of our entire community here in Swift Current are with our neighbours to the northeast."

Perrault said, Swift Current, will stand behind and support Humboldt and those affected by the crash.

"In the hours and days ahead, our sincere hope is that the good people of Humboldt have the full support they need to cope with these tragic circumstances and that we can all rally around Humboldt and their Broncos in their time of need," he said. "To all of those who have been directly impacted by this tragedy: please know that Swift Current and our fellow communities around the world are behind you."

Perrault added that he is encouraging people to show their support by visiting the Go Fund Me that is raising funds to assist the team and their families.

To show their support the city lowered the Canadian flag and City of Swift Current flag outside of city hall to half mast.
