Shaun Meachem and his team from the Swift Current Curling Club narrowly missed the playoffs at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Prince Albert this week.

Meachem, Kelly Schafer and Chris & Teejay Haichert had a record of three wins and three losses to finish fourth in Pool A which moved them into the eight-team championship pool, where they curled to an overall record of 6-4 and in a four-team tie for third place. With the top four teams moving on with no tie-breaker games, head-to-head records were used to determine the last two playoff spots and the two-time defending Saskatchewan champions wound up on the outside of the playoff picture.

Team Quebec, skipped by Felix Asselin, claimed the province's third-straight mixed championship with a 10-3 win in Saturday's final over Trevor Bonot and Northern Ontario in six ends.

Next year's Canadian Mixed Curling Championship will take place in Swift Current on November 5-11, 2023.
