The Midget AAA 57s were in action for the first time since May 13, splitting a home double-header with the Regina Athletics.

The Midget 57s lost 16-9 in Game 1, though the game reached extra innings.

Swift and Regina were tied 3-3 after seven innings, both scored a pair in the eighth, and in the tenth the doors were blown off.

The visiting Athletics posted 11 runs in the top of tenth to take an unmatchable lead, though the 57s did manage four of their own to close the game out.

Ethan Murdoch and Logan Fritzke managed the lone multi-hit games for the 57s, while Fritzke also went six strong innings on the mound giving up three earned runs and striking out ten.

Nolan Klein was charged with the loss after giving up ten earned runs in three innings of work.

The Midget AAA 57s rebounded in the second tilt, coming away with a 7-4 win. Swift carried a 7-2 lead into the final frame, but surrendered a pair in the top half of the ninth for the three-run gap.

Brody Alexandre led the way offensively for the 57s going 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in a pair of runs in the process. His season average stands at .560 through ten games.

Fritzke, Mac Gross, Quinn Patenaude, and Nic Bachiu also drove in runs for Swift Current, while Brock Wall tossed a complete game on the mound. He gave up three runs on eight hits, while striking out six Athletic batters.

The Midget AAA 57s (3-7) are on the road for a pair of double-headers next weekend. They're in Saskatoon against the Giants (4-5) on Saturday, before heading to Lloydminster to take on the Northwest Pirates (0-6) on Sunday.
