More updates have been issued this morning in an attempt to get ahead of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic in the province.

The Chief Medical Health Officer, Doctor Saqib Shahab, has ordered that visitors to long-term care homes, hospitals, personal care homes and group homes be restricted to essential visitors only.

Shahab defines essential visitors as being immediate family during compassionate reasons.

As well, Faith-based organizations, which had previously been exempt from the public gathering restrictions, are now included. Effective immediately, no gathering of more than 250 individuals in a single room will be allowed.

These restrictions add to the already strengthened travel restrictions announced on Saturday.

Officials will be holding a press conference at noon to address the public.

Swift Current Online will update this story as more information becomes available.
