There's a new face at the Town of Shaunavon office occupying the Chief Administrative Officer position.

David J Hutten has claimed the position of CAO, taking to the role with plenty of enthusiasm. He comes to the community with years of experience not only as a CAO, but also in various other political backgrounds.

"I was performing the duties of Chief Administrative Officer out east in a couple of communities over the last number of years," said Hutten. "With a background in other government, as well as business, and leadership roles across a variety of fronts."

Most recently, he served as CAO in a New Brunswick community. His move to the prairies was made after careful consideration of the position in Shaunavon.

"I saw the ad come up for Shaunavon and took a good look at the community," said Hutten. "I took a good look at financial statements, different things from what was going on here, and thought it might be a fit."

Sure enough, the interviews saw a warm reception from those in charge, and he was brought in for the job.

Hutten focuses on being approachable and open to discussing concerns, wants and needs in the community. He is also not afraid to voice these things once brought to him at council meetings.

"I'm looking forward to working closely with council on a number of projects that they're seeking to get movement on," said Hutten. "Also to lead staff into the next year hoping to get a good team camaraderie built up."

Anyone who would like to meet Hutten to introduce themselves, or to discuss a concern they have, can find him at the Town Hall in Shauanavon.
