The best way to have some fun on the water using a canoe or kayak is to be a part of the Learn to Paddle Initiative being offered this week in the southwest.

The City of Swift Current, the Town of Shaunavon, The Southwest District for Sport, Culture and Recreation, Canoe/Kayak Saskatchewan and the Newcomer Welcome Centre in Swift Current  have joined forces to offer the Program this Friday at the Elmwood Park in Swift Current, and Saturday at the Valley View Bible Camp south of Shaunavon.

Sessions run each day from ten a.m. until four p.m.

Rebecca Anderson is the Community Connection Worker at the Newcomer Welcome Centre and talks about why they are bringing the program to the southwest, "There is, in the area, some people that are really into the kayaking. As far as us at the Newcomer Welcome Centre, we're trying to draw and attract our clients that are new to this area and the type of geography that we have here. Some new ways to explore."

All people are welcome to come out and have some fun. They will supply the equipment, including life jackets and safety kits.

There is no fee charged.

Kids 10 years old or younger need to be accompanied by an adult.
