The Government of Saskatchewan recently announced that it has recommended more than 120 infrastructure projects to Canada for final approval under The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.

These projects represent more than 192 million dollars in provincial funding.

The Village of Frontier is one community receiving provincial money for use toward their landfill decommissioning.

Barb Webber, Village Administrator, explains the work that needs done. She said, "We have to do a site assessment on our landfill. So, in that, we have to check to see if there's any leaking and all that stuff. And so we have to get a certified company to do that, and then if there is issues, then that has to be rectified, and all that has to be done before we can decommission our landfill."

The provincial government has approved just over $340,000 for the project in Frontier.

Funding contributions are from the federal and provincial governments and the approved applicants cover the remainder.
