Swift Current RCMP are investigating recent thefts from coin-operated washing machines in the city.
Most of the thefts are occurring in smaller apartment buildings with unlocked outer doors, where the laundry machines were damaged and the coin slots removed. In one instance, two men were spotted fleeing the scene of the crime by a tenant of one of the buildings.
Police are encouraging apartment property owners to lock the outside doors to their buildings, and for tenants to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity. Those who see anything suspicious are asked to contact City RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
