Despite the current state of the world, one fact remains constant: Crime still doesn't pay.

A 29-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a routine traffic stop on Wednesday in Swift Current.

On April 8th, the Swift Current Municipal RCMP pulled over Jeremy Ponting of Swift Current, leading to the seizure of 12 grams of methamphetamine worth approximately $1,200, a BB Air Pistol, drug paraphernalia and $740 in cash.

Ponting was remanded into custody and charged with:

  • Trafficking methamphetamine;
  • possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • possession of proceeds of crime;
  • two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • failing to comply with release conditions.

He made his first court appearance April 9 and will be back in Swift Current Provincial Court on April 15.
