SaskPower is continuing to make upgrades to the transmission lines in the Swift Current area.

Last year they did some work to the lines coming into the north end of Swift Current and now they're west of the city by the Highway 32 turnoff working.

"It (the line) runs from the Swift Current switching station to the south city of Swift Current substation," SaskPower Spokesperson Joel Cherry said. "The work there consists specifically of cross arm upgrades and general structure maintenance, in some cases, they may be replacing the entire two-pole structure if necessary and that's going to help extend the life of the line."

The line was erected in the mid-1960s and the work being done currently is just part of SaskPower's regular upgrades work they do on an ongoing basis.

"Getting that work done is going to extend the life of the line and it's going to improve reliability for customers in the area," he said.

Work began sometime this past fall and it's expected to be wrapped up by the end of March.
