An upgrade in storm status for a section of southwest Saskatchewan.

The RM of Reno, including Consul, Robsart, and Willow Creek has been issued a severe thunderstorm warning as of 5:32 p.m.

And now, as of 5:50 p.m., the R.M. of Frontier including Frontier and Claydon has been issued the same warning - an upgrade from the previous thunderstorm watch status.

This thunderstorm is located just west of Govenlock and moving southeastward at approximately 50 km/h. The storm is reportedly capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. Environment Canada advises individuals to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Meanwhile, areas including those around Maple Creek, Val Marie, and Shaunavon have been issued a severe thunderstorm watch.
