The province saw its largest day-to-day increase of new cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, as the Sask Health Authority announced 34 new cases Monday afternoon.

The majority of those cases (29) are in the far north region of the province. Four of the other cases are in the north region, with the lone other case in the Saskatoon region. The locally reported cases from May 2 have now been confirmed and are a part of today’s increase.

The previous daily high was an increase of 30 cases in the March 28 update.

There have now been 467 cases reported overall.

  • 0-19 y/o: 51 cases,
  • 20-39 y/o: 167 cases,
  • 40-59 y/o: 152 cases,
  • 60-79 y/o: 82 cases,
  • 80+ y/o: 15 cases.

Another two recoveries were reported, which puts that total at 307 so far, and also spells an active case total of 154.

There are now 11 individuals in hospitals around the province due to the virus – a decrease of three from Sunday’s update. The SHA did note an increase of one person in the ICU, with four residents now in intensive care – three are in Saskatoon and one is in the north region. Seven people are receiving inpatient care - two in the north, with the other five in Saskatoon.

To date, 32,334 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province.
