On Thursday, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) enacted a measure that would offer a small relief to both healthcare workers and patients when they announced that they would be temporarily suspending parking fees at all of its facilities.

Signage has been posted ensuring that visitors and staff park in appropriate areas.

For those who are visiting SHA facilities for compassionate reasons, parking fees will also be waived.

No other visitors are actually permitted inside SHA hospitals or care centres.

Compassionate reasons refer to the immediate family during end-of-life care, the family of patients prior to major surgery or visitors aiding in clinical care.

The visitor restrictions came into effect Monday, March 16, 2020, and are in place until further notice.

The Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current does not charge parking fees.
