Shaunavon Hospital will have another temporary disruption this weekend, closing its doors to emergency patients from today at 4:30 p.m. to June 10, reopening at 8:00 a.m..

It has been confirmed that the disruption will not affect the primary and long-term care services.

Here is a segment from the official SHA release:

"The Shaunavon Emergency Department is currently on temporary bypass due to a shortage of Combined Lab X-Ray Technologists (CLXTs). The SHA has been successful at recruiting more CLXTs to Shaunavon, two of whom will start their roles later this summer. The SHA will always work toward maintaining emergency services in Shaunavon, but periodic staffing schedule conflicts may necessitate further, temporary disruptions... We thank the community for its understanding and patience during this time."

Shaunavon healthcare professionals advise those seeking emergency services to head to the neighbouring facilities of Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current or the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility in Maple Creek.

The SHA reminds the public to call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency, and to call 8-1-1 for non-urgent questions about health.
