A girl with an abundance of excuses for not cleaning her room is the main character in the newest children's picture book from Swift Current author and illustrator, Jessica Williams.

Williams says her previous six books have dealt with difficult topics, but over the past year and a half she's found herself drawn to things that are light and fun.

She talked about her inspiration for writing "I Can't Clean My Room", saying "The idea just sort of came, I think partly, from having a kid and being around kids and the general constant struggle of it's time to clean up."

Williams adds that the book is a silly story that's enjoyable for kids and relatable for anyone who has spent any amount of time with them.
