The Swift Current Salvation Army joined in on the Halloween fun Tuesday night collecting 9,775 pounds of food.

Youth groups and adult groups from churches canvassed Swift Current collecting food to help out the food bank.

"It is always an exciting evening," Don Grad, major with the Swift Current Salvation Army, said. "We had a wonderful response as always, of course. Swift Current is so generous."

The event organized by the Trailview Alliance Church will help fill roughly one-third of the Salvation Army's Christmas hampers this holiday season.

Grad extended his thank you to all of the residents and businesses of Swift Current.
