Anyone interested in learning the sport of rowing has their chance this week in Swift Current.

The City is partnering up with Saskatchewan Rowing Association (SRA) beginning tomorrow and running through Wednesday to offer free sessions for people aged 13 and older.

Chris Keleher, the community recreation coordinator for the city of Swift Current, said the idea was proposed by the SRA to the South West District for Culture, Recreation & Sport.

"We're really looking forward to it," he said. "This is the first time we've had it in the city, so we're excited to host these clinics and hopefully grow the interest level here in the community."

Each clinic is allowed up to eight participants but pre-registration through Swift Current's Community Services Division is required.

"Still do have a couple of spots open for the sessions," he said. "I definitely encourage anyone that's interested to get registered."

Everything is provided to participants although Keleher added people should wear light clothing they're comfortable getting wet, a hat, and sunscreen.

"We'll have lifejackets, we'll have a lifeguard from the Aquatics Centre on site just to play it safe," he said. "And Saskatchewan Rowing is bringing the boats and everything else."
