Arrest numbers saw a significant increase in Swift Current yesterday... this time, for a good cause.

The Swift Current Group Two Scouts, along with members of the RCMP, travelled to homes and businesses across the City of Swift Current issuing arrest warrants for people nominated by their friends or colleagues in one of their biggest fundraisers to date. In order to get out of jail, those arrested had to pay up.

Those who couldn't pay the twenty dollar bail on the spot were taken by the RCMP to the Swift Current Mall, where they had to raise a minimum of $100 before being released. All money raised goes towards the Scouts trip to the Maritimes in July, to attend the Canadian Jamboree, a convention for scouts across Canada.

The scouts are almost done with their fundraising efforts and are looking forward to heading to the Maritimes.
