Tomorrow, tennis will begin for the season with a big kickoff event in Riverside Park.

The Tennis Association of Swift Current is inviting everyone to swing by the courts and experience what the sport has to offer from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

All people need to bring is themselves, their shoes, and appropriate sportswear. The Tennis Association will have racquets available for people to test out their arms with, along with instructors capable of explaining how to do so safely.

Kimberly Hartwig, a tennis coach with the Tennis Association of Swift Current, is excited to see how many people give the sport a chance.

"What we're hoping is that anyone in the community who is interested in the sport of tennis will come out," said Hartwig. "They can meet other players from the club, they can get their level rated by some of our coaches, they can meet new players, and make new friends on the court."

Anyone who falls in love with the game will be able to join the Tennis Association. Membership for the season is $40 for adults and $20 for junior members.

"We are going to have a whole bunch more club events throughout the summer and those events are either free or at a reduced rate for all of the members," said Hartwig.

Currently, the youngest members are between five and six years old, while there is no upper limit for the age of players, so long as they feel comfortable playing.

Anyone with questions can reach out on Facebook to the Tennis Association of Swift Current, or go tomorrow and ask in person.

"It looks like it's going to be a really sunny, nice day this Saturday," said Hartwig. "I don't think that there's any better way to spend it than coming out to the courts and playing some tennis and meeting some new people."
