In the August 20 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 244 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 244 new cases there are 9 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 19 in the Far North East zone, 11 in the North West zone, 24 in the North Central zone, 34 in the North East zone, 52 in the Saskatoon zone, 6 in the Central West zone, 9 in the Central East zone, 35 in the Regina zone, 16 in the South Central zone, and 13 in the South East zone.

There are 3 new cases in the South West zone - all in t he South West subzone 2.

There are 12 new cases with pending residence information.

One case with pending residence information was assigned to the North Central zone.

Two cases were Saskatchewan residents tested out of the province. They have been added to the Saskatoon zone count.

And 2 cases have been deemed to be non-Saskatchewan residents and have been removed as follows - 1 from the North East zone, and 1 has pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 52,065, of which 1,381 are considered active.

There are 57 active cases in the South West zone - 31 in South West subzone 1, and 26 in the South West subzone 2.

Less than one-half (40.6%) of the new cases are in the 20 to 39 age category.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 146 (12.1 new cases per 100,000 population).

There were 66  recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 50,098.

There were no new deaths reported, leaving that provincial total at 586.

There are 84 people in the hospital - 69 of those are receiving inpatient care, and 15 are in intensive care.

Of the 84 patients, 61 (73%) are not fully vaccinated.

To date, there have been 995,362 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 2,320 COVID-19 tests processed.

Of the 8,684 variants of concern cases identified by whole genome  sequencing in the province, 7,096 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 10 are Beta (B.1.351), 448 are Gamma (P.1), and 1,130 are Delta (B.1.617.2).

There were 1,543 does of COVID-19 vaccine given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number administered province-wide to 1,454,742.

The South West zone received 8 of those doses.

There are a total of 681,388 residents that are fully vaccinated.
