In the January 27 COVID-19 update from the Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 149 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 149 new cases there are 5 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 3 in the Far North East zone, 8 in the North West zone, 8 in the North Central zone, 8 in the North East zone, 48 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 7 in the Central East zone, 38 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 15 in the South East zone.

There are 4 new cases that have pending residence information.

Ten cases with pending residence information were assigned as follows -  5 to the Far North West zone, 1 to the Far North East zone, 3 to the North West zone and 1 to the North Central zone.

One previously reported case has been deemed to be out of province and was removed from the counts.

That brings the provincial number of COVID-19 cases to 22,794, of which 2,527 are considered active.

There is one outbreak status in the Assiniboia Union Hospital located in the South Central zone. In non-household settings, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 242 (19.8 new cases per 100,000 population).

Six Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One reported death was in to 50-59 age group from the Saskatoon zone, one reported death was in the 60-69 age group from the North Central zone, and 4 reported deaths were in the 80+ age group from the Saskatoon zone.

There have been 264 recoveries, bringing that provincial total to 19,993.

There are 220 people in hospital. One hundred and eighty-four are receiving inpatient care -5 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 15 in the North West zone, 30 in the North Central zone, 6 in the North East zone, 70 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 11 in the Central East zone, and 39 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 3 in the South East zone.

There are 36 people in intensive care - 2 in the North West zone, 2 in the North Central zone, 18 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 12 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, 497,468 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 2,176 COVID-19 tests processed.

Please note, that the Ministry of Health is updating data reporting systems. The COVID-19 dashboard will not be available for January 27.

There were 429 administered doses of COVID-29 vaccine reported yesterday in Saskatchewan - that brings the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 34,615. 

As of January 27, 106% of the doses received have been administered. This overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.
