I was recently given the chance to visit one of my favourite places in the southwest, Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. When touring the area, I found many sights that would not be out of place in the Rocky Mountains. Loch Leven at the base of the massive park is incredibly scenic, and can be enjoyed with kayaks, canoes or pedal boats.

Once you get a little up the hill from the base, many long and winding trails make for peaceful hikes or thrilling mountain biking, which is my favourite way to enjoy them. If all that exercise seems like a drag, there is also the option to get in on a segway tour or take a tractor-pulled wagon around.

I have also been able to do some golfing in the park, and I must say it is some of the most beautiful scenery to play in. It’s also a great place to practice, with a driving range to work on your long game, and a very popular mini-golf course for your short game.

If you are looking for a great place to camp, swim, or just sightsee, I highly recommend heading out there before summer is over. Since I was 13, I haven’t let a summer go by without visiting at least once. It is such a special place for people of all ages to unwind and have some fun.
