A three-year prison sentence was given out yesterday in the Saskatoon Court of Queen's Bench for a man from Gull Lake.

Rhett Lundgren pleaded guilty in November to several offences including attempting to lure a child under 18, or a child the accused believes is under 18, and possession of child pornography.

The joint submission was accepted by the judge yesterday.

Lundgren was a teacher in Saskatoon prior to being arrested in December of 2016. He also taught in Red Deer.

The child luring conviction yielded a 20-month sentence behind bars, and the possession of child porn has a 16-month sentence, consecutive to the 20 months.

Some other offences, which Lundgren will serve concurrently, include attempting to access child pornography and breaching his conditions while out on bail, but not being at the proper residence.

He has a number of conditions, including submitting a DNA sample, and being listed as a registered sex offender.

Lundgren was arrested after planning on meeting with a police officer who said he was a pedofile that would bring an underage girl with him. Lundgren didn't wind up going, but was arrested and police found child pornography on his computer.

In court he also admitted to having a consensual sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student while teaching in Red Deer in 2009.
