The 2019 Western Canada Summer Games officially get underway one week from Friday, and the excitement for the games is building in the community.

The torch relay for the games will take place in Swift Current, Lac Pelletier and Saskatchewan Landing over the August long weekend, with 25 torch bearers carrying the flame and sharing the spirit of the games. Tamara Veason and Carla Congdon with the WCSG's Torch Relay Committee joined Colin on the Magic Morning Show to talk about the relays.

The route for the Torch Relay in Swift Current can be found below, and traffic restrictions will be in place along the route Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Meanwhile, more than 1450 volunteers have now signed up for the games with a week to go, but more help is needed in a number of areas. You can sign up online at 2019wcsg.ca, or in person at the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre located in the Swift Current Mall near Safeway, and that's where registered volunteers can now pick up their accreditation badges and volunteer packages.

Tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the games' events are available online, or in person at City Hall until Friday, and then at the Innovation Credit Union iplex starting August 6.
