A major infrastructure project will commence on 10th Avenue Northeast today closing a section of the road for the remainder of the summer.

The closure on the 800 block of 10th Avenue Northeast will make the street wedged between North Hill Drive and George Street East off-limits until the early part of September.

The nearly $1.17 million project is split into three phases with two contractors.

Swift Current's Knudsen Excavating Ltd. will be replacing the sanitary main and water main on the street and to the property lines on the south portion of the block from July 3 to July 21. They will then complete the same work on the north side of the street from July 21 to August 11. This work will cost around $725,000.

The final phase will see United Paving Ltd. install a new sidewalk and road for the entire block from August 11 to September 4. The budget approved for concrete and paving by city council is about $422,000.

According to the City, dates and timelines for this project could change.
