The Swift Current U18 Wildcats took the first of the three-game series against the South East Goldwings.

Yesterday saw the Wildcats pounce on the Goldwings, taking them down 3-2.

The first period was the strongest for Swift Current, as they stormed the scoreboard taking their first two goals only 26 seconds apart.

Scoring the first goal was Jordyn Cooper, followed shortly by Morgan Bailey with the second.

The second period went to the Goldwings, as tied the game.

Early in the period, Madi Doud scored the first goal for the South East. It would be almost 18 minutes later when Katelyn Thackeray managed to score, tieing the game at 2-2.

In the third period, each team's goalie hunkered down and battled through the full 20 minutes without letting in a single shot.

Then they did it again in the first overtime, again refusing to let a single shot past their pads.

It would be the Goldwings who would crack first as Mya Brown managed to score for Swift Current, ending the stalemate and settling the score at 3-2 for the Wildcats.

Game two will be in Swift Current, Friday night at Fairview West Arena at 8 p.m
