Update written May 10:

The Town of Shaunavon has postponed its Community Cleanup due to unforeseen circumstances.

Originally set for today, folks are now invited to join in on making the parks and green spaces shine on May 15.

Meeting places and cleanup times will remain the same.

Spring has sprung in the southwest and with the snow finally gone, months of accumulated debris and garbage have been unveiled.

The Town of Shaunavon is springing into action, gathering community members together and cleaning up the town one corner at a time.

Dana Dale, director of Wellness and Leisure, said they're looking for more volunteers to join in on a big job this Wednesday.

"We're pretty fortunate in Shaunavon," Dale said. "We've got about four different parks and green spaces available to our community members. They take quite a beating over the fall and winter. So, in the spring, it's nice to get them looking as good as possible because they do get used quite often throughout the summer months."

The morning cleanup starts at 10 a.m. at the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Building and an evening option gets underway at 6 p.m. at the Randy Surjik Memorial Amphitheater.

Clean-up supplies and designated areas of clean-up will be provided at each location, with jobs varying from picking up garbage, to raking leaves and twigs, to cleaning up playgrounds.

Sign-up is not required; just bring your best gloves and get ready to make Shaunavon shine.
