A Swift Current cheer team will display their new home tonight to the community with an open gym.

Now located at 1974 South Service Road West, the Western Athletics Club is hoping their new facility will allow them to reach new heights.

Cassidy Meshke, the owner of Western Athletics Club, said she's ecstatic about the endless possibilities for growth in the about 4,000 space.

"We'll be able to offer more programming, really focus on growing our recreational classes, which we're really excited about," she said. "As well as offer more training time to our current athletes and get more specialized that way and level up.

"Our cheer mats are all laid down, we have an upstairs mezzanine with a parent watch area, and a birthday party area."

The club that formed in May of 2021 has spent about the last two and a half years training out of the First United Church's gym.

"It was a great first home for us, we were able to grow our program from there," she said. "We're super excited to move into our own space now."

The grand opening will run from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
