Some young locals experienced what it was like to be a firefighter yesterday thanks to the Swift Current Fire Department.

The 2022 Fire Prevention Week "Fire Chief For A Day" contest winners included one student from five local schools who spent an educational and fun-filled day at the station.

This year's Fire Prevention Week motto was "Fire won't wait. Plan your escape" stressing the importance of the fact that fires are fast and every second counts, so planning and practicing your fire escape plan is very important.

Participating schools included Central, O.M Irwin, Fairview, Ecole Centennial, and All Saints.

In a press release sent out by the Swift Current Fire Department, they wanted to thank all of the event sponsors including Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, the Sputtergotch Toy Company, Cinema Twin Theatre, and the Swift Current Broncos Organization, for their generous donations and prizes.
