Radiothon for Healthcare off to strong start with $37,000 raised
It’s been a strong start to the Radiothon for Healthcare, with more than $37,000 raised halfway through Day 1 of the two-day event. The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation has set a goal of $150,000 to support the women’s and children’s unit at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Funds will go toward purchasing an incubator and bili light, a wireless fetal monitor, a blanket warmer, and three sleeper chairs. Swift Current Mayor Al Bridal said the cause hits close to home for many families in the southwest. He said having local health care makes a big difference for parents and grandparents. “I have little grandchildren,” Bridal said. “Having health care here, instead of my children having to go to Regina or Saskatoon, is so important. Then grandparents can go see the new babies, and moms can be very happy to see us there. It’s a personal thing for each one of us, and it’s so important that we support this foundation.” The Radiothon for Healthcare runs on-air until 5 p.m. Thursday, and again Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. across Country 94.1, Magic 97, CKSW 570, and Country 1490. Donations can be made by calling 306-773-0666, visiting the Elmwood Golf Club clubhouse, or online through the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation’s website.
