As predicted in the Eastern Division Finals preview, the thrilling regular-season series between the Swift Current 57's and Regina Red Sox carried into the post-season.

The 57's dropped Game 1 of the best-of-three series in a 5-4 decision in the provincial capital Sunday night.

Swift Current got on the board in the top of the first.

They carried a 1-0 lead through to the bottom of the second frame, when Regina leapt ahead with a two-run burst.

The Red Sox added singles in the bottom of the third and sixth inning, but that's when things got interesting.

Swift Current trailed 4-1 in the top half of the seventh - enter shortstop Kiel Krumwiede.

With centre fielder James Moses on first base, and right fielder Jared Binsfeld on second, Krumwiede hit a three-run jack on a 1-2 count to draw even with Regina.

However, the Red Sox countered in the home half of the seventh with an RBI single off the bat of Rio Russell for the eventual game-winning run.

Krumwiede, Luis Navarro, and Breyden Eckout all contributed with two-hit games.

Former 57's catcher Ben Komonosky had a two RBI outing for his hometown Red Sox.

Just like that, Swift Current looks to avoid a sweep at Mitchell Field tonight. The 57's host the Red Sox for Game 2 of their series at 7:05 p.m.

Game 3 if necessary, would be Tuesday night back in Regina.
