After two months of construction, the Elrose Memorial Hall addition is already getting tin and windows.

Dane MacDonald is a Member of the Elrose Lions Organization. He said it's a lot of progress considering everything is done by fundraising, donations or volunteers. The group broke ground for the addition on May 15.

"There's a crew, lead by a contracting from Dinsmore and a bunch of volunteers, they're working on getting the tin on the roof for the hall addition. As well as starting to do some work on the walls, putting windows and doors."

MacDonald added that it's been a lot of noticeable work done in a small amount of time.

"It is going faster but this initial stage is kind of the quickest part of it, all the rough framing."

The Lions will be more interior work through the winter, if they can get it heated according to MacDonald.

"If we get it all closed in with the heat on in the winter time, we'll see how the fundraising goes and how much interior work we'll be able to do. It's all based on funds."

MacDonald said the Lions currently just have their farming fundraiser on the go.

"We started [the farming fundraiser project] this year to support the hall addition. We have a couple of crops in, a spring wheat crop and a lentil crop that we're farming from the help of area farmers and donated input."

He said with a lot of volunteers being farmers, work might slow down during the next few weeks.

MacDonald also noted they appreciate the community support through the project, as people with no affiliation to the Lions Club have been helping too.
