The Swift Current 57's opened a weekend set against the Edmonton Prospects with an 11-6 loss at Mitchell Field on Saturday night.

The Prospects jumped out to a 2-0 in the first inning on a two-run homer by Zach Barnao, but the 57's would go up 4-2 on a solo shot by Demetrio Archuleta in the second inning and a two-run double by Brody Alexandre in the third. Josh Cote hit a two-run single to tie the game up at 4-4 in the fourth inning before Casey Prychak scored on a groundout to help the 57's regain the lead in the fifth. Edmonton would score four runs in the sixth inning, with Josh Cote and Jordan Singleton hitting RBI doubles, and Ryan Kucy added a solo home run in the seventh to put Edmonton up 9-5. Kai Gray scored on an inside-the-park home run in in the eighth to give the 57's a run back, but Noah Brooks hit and RBI single and later scored on a groundout in the ninth to wrap up the scoring.

57's starter Kenny Jinks allowed eight earned runs and nine hits over 5.1 innings and struck out seven batters in the loss. Alden Norquist got the win in relief for Edmonton.

The two teams play again Sunday at 4:00 p.m. from Mitchell Field, and the game can be heard live on Country 94.1 FM with Local Sports Live coverage starting at 3:50 p.m.
