This new study has found that farmers are prone to injury when they stop taking pain medication.

The study looked at the cases of more then 8,000 Alberta farmers over the age of 66.

Researchers found that when pain was "unmasked" once medication stopped, it competed for the farmer’s attention at work.

This competition would result in reduced attention to the tasks at hand, similar to the distraction of using a cell phone while driving.
