The WHL held its draft lottery today and Swift Current stayed exactly where they started.

Seattle won the lottery to move from 3rd to 1rst in this year's bantam draft.

That leaves the Broncos in 5th spot in the 1rst round. They draft ahead of teams with lower point totals like Victoria and Everett in the 1rst round because those clubs made the playoffs in the Western Conference. The Broncos then drop down to 7th in subsequent rounds.

After taking defencemen Dillon Heatherington, Brycen Martin and Zack Gonek in the last two 1rst rounds, Broncos Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb expects to go another way this time.

"We've got a lot of good young D," Lamb said. "We're going to target a forward. It doesn't matter if it's a winger or a centreman. For the most part too we're going to target a goaltender."

Broncos scouts believe there is a strong group of players around the area in which they pick.

"I'm going to get out to see these players right away and see where they fit." Lamb said. "That's the consensus right now that there's a lot of players in the top 10 that will be very valuable players in our organization."

Lamb is on a scouting trip in BC this week.

It wasn't a good lottery for the princes.

Prince Albert dropped out of 1rst to 2nd while Prince George fell from 2nd to 3rd.

The draft is scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd.
