It will be the first taste of WHL action for several Swift Current Broncos tonight and a chance for them to stand out against another organization.

They'll open their four-game WHL preseason with a pair of matchups with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

"Getting the jersey on and that unique feeling in the dressing room before for a lot of these guys for the first time I'm sure will be pretty special and exciting," Swift Current Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie said. "We're really looking forward to it."

The younger Broncos lineup this evening will make a change from competing against one another in practice and scrimmages for the last week to playing alongside Broncos players.

"It's all a part of the growth and the process here to get these guys an opportunity," he said. "To be able to play together and compete against another team in our league, one of our rivals. I think it's a great opportunity for guys to get a feel for it and get comfortable."

Yesterday's Denny Ulmer Cup also gave the rookies, veterans, and free agent invitees a chance to prove themselves in-game action. A pair of 2007-born forwards Levi Benson and Ty Coupland made sure to seize the moment playing together with the former netting two goals.

"I thought the combination of Levi Benson and Ty Coupland was pretty dynamic," he said. "We feel pretty strongly about those two guys being able to do that down the road in our lineup, night in and night out."

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. from the Innovation iPlex tonight.
