A Swift Current Pure Chem U15 AA Bronco now has a few options for his junior hockey career after being selected earlier this week in the SJHL Draft.

Kasey Gleim was selected by the Melville Millionaires on Tuesday afternoon in the first round, 11th overall amongst 2009-born players.

"It was pretty exciting," he said the moment he found out he was drafted. "I was actually catching up on schooling because I've been seeding for the last few weeks and my dad called me and said 'you got drafted' and I was like 'no way.'"

The Chaplin product led the Pure Chem Broncos in scoring this past season with 31 goals, 29 assists, and 60 points in 27 regular season games. The 15-year-old forward was the 13th-highest-scoring player in the Saskatchewan U15 AA Hockey League.

The 5-foot-9 forward called it a "once and a lifetime kind of thing" to be drafted twice in such a short span. He was drafted on May 9 by the Everett Silvertips in the fifth round, 108th overall during the WHL Prospects Draft.

"A few different decisions (to make)," he said. "I haven't quite made a final one yet, I guess we will see what happens."

Gleim skated in two games last year with the Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires and will make the full-time jump to that squad this year knowing the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League will be vital for his development.

"I have to get better at making the quicker plays as the game gets faster each level you go up," he said. "Maybe be a big more physical, try to get to the gym more and get a bit stronger to win some puck battles."
