Charges have been laid after an aborted amber alert and an attempted parental child abduction on July 28th.

As reported by the RCMP, at approximately 5:00 p.m. that day, Unity RCMP officers were called to a resident for a complaint of an assault and possible parental abduction.

After arriving on the scene and learning details of the incident, several other surrounding detachments were advised and an amber alert was put into the planning stages.

Three children had reportedly been taken by their father and uncle from the mother's home and left the area in a truck.

Before the amber alert could be completed, officers located and stopped the truck on highway #4 south of Kyle.

Both men were arrested on the scene and the children were located safe shortly afterwards, having been taken to a residence in Maidstone where they were with another adult female.

Both the father and his brother are facing charges including:

  • Break and Enter;
  • Uttering threats;
  • Assault;
  • Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose; and
  • Abduction.

The duo is scheduled to make their first court appearance in Swift Current provincial court on August 6, 2020, at 1:30 p.m.
