Members of the CIBC raised money over the weekend for the Run for the Cure.

The members raised money by selling hot dogs, chips and a pop for $5. All of the proceeds are going towards the run.

Nicole Emslie, who is with the CIBC talked about why they like to be a part of raising money for the Run for the Cure.

"It's a great cause; I have a sister-in-law that was diagnosed and has been through it," Emslie said. "We actually had one of our really good customers come and help us out today; it's just one thing that hits home."

The CIBC Run for the Cure began in 1997. It was a partnership between the CIBC, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and communities across the country.

The event has nearly 100,000 people participate in the run and raises over $17 million annually in communities across Canada.

The money raised will be invested in the most promising breast cancer research that is leading the way in prevention, diagnosis and treatment and care, as well as funding Canada’s leading breast cancer patient support network, which works to improve the quality of life and the emotional support needed for those affected by this disease.

The Run for the Cure happens on October 1.

In Saskatchewan, runs will be held in both Regina and Saskatoon.
