It's go time for the Swift Current Comp. Colts Football Team as they kick off their season tomorrow on the road.

They'll be tasked with taking on perennial contender Moose Jaw Central Cyclones in SHSAA 12-Aside South Rural League.

Colts Head Coach Derek Murdoch said his squad will be relying on a strong veteran offensive performance to power the team against Moose Jaw.

"We're a little bit older on offence, we want to be able to sustain some drives and keep our offence on the field," he said. "We're working game planning what we think Central is going to do offensively for our defensive guys."

Swift Current will be seeking revenge after falling 50-9 last year to begin the season against the Cyclones at Colts Field.

"They're excited to get on the bus," he said. "We've got some guys who play football all year and are in the gym all year for this two-month stretch. This is just the start... It's one game but the first one is always a little bit different and everybody's a little more amped up. We will just try and control emotions and deal with things as they come."

The Colts are coming off a 21-21 tie last week in Regina against Thom Collegiate in exhibition action which allowed Swift Current to play all of their 60-plus players, over one-third of which being grade nines.

"It was a great day last Friday, I think everybody had a good time and it was low pressure, low-stress situation," he said. "It was a good start for our season."

Kickoff in Moose Jaw at Gutheridge Field is 1 p.m.
