Nearly 50 golfers competed in SWAC District high school golf championships at Eastend’s Streambank golf course on Wednesday. 

On the boys’ side, Makstyr McIntyre from the Swift Current Comprehensive High School led the way with an 18-hole score of 69 with Swift Current’s Ayden Ross finishing second with a 70. Niya Friesen from the Comp won the girls championship with a score of 80, with Lyla Thiessen finishing second.

Meanwhile, Chloe Wills of Kyle Composite School finished first at West Central golf districts on her home course at Saskatchewan Landing Golf Resort on Tuesday. Chloe won the Golf Saskatchewan U-17 girls' championship and competed at the Canadian Women’s Amateur in Nova Scotia earlier this summer. 

SHSAA Golf Provincials are at Elbow’s Harbour Golf Club on September 21 and 22.

High school soccer results

The Comp High School Ardens started the girls' soccer season with a dominant 19-nil win over Moose Jaw, led by five goals from Lauren Hanson and three more from Milana Dyck. Rachel Noble, Dani Meyer, Elizabeth Metke, and Navy Louma scored two goals each and Naimy Regier, Raya Lamontagne, and Mapalo Mushoriwa added goals of their own. Tinara Bowditch and Nalani Chan combined for the clean sheet.

The Ardens will host the Vanier Spirits on Monday afternoon at 4:30pm. Meanwhile, the Colts soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame at home on Wednesday to move to 1-1 on the season.
